About Triangle Compounding Pharmacy

Personalized Medications That Put You First

Founded on experience. Built for your health.

Raising the bar in compounding

Back in 2007, we became the first pharmacy in North Carolina to earn national PCAB accreditation -  and we’ve been leading ever since. When hospitals started facing drug shortages, we stepped up again, becoming the state’s first FDA‑registered 503B Human Drug Outsourcing Facility. That means we’re equipped to produce large-scale sterile medications for healthcare systems while still delivering the kind of obsessive attention to detail that makes a difference for each individual.

We’re built for “N of 1” medicine - a mindset and process where every medication is tailored for a single patient, not the average. Every ingredient is checked, every batch is tracked, and every prescription is tested for things like sterility and potency, so the care you receive is as unique as you are. Our team is always training, auditing, and investing in new technology to keep our standards high and the results precise - whether that means a one‑off custom prescription or life‑saving treatments for entire hospitals.

Meet the Triangle team

Danny Barnes, PharmD BCSCP Rph

Co-founder, Triangle Compounding Pharmacy Chief Pharmacy Officer/President

“I helped start Triangle because too many people were being underserved by one-size-fits-all medicine or could not receive life-saving medications because of drug shortages.”

For more than 25 years, Danny Barnes has been dedicated to helping patients achieve better health through personalized, high-quality medications. Danny leads a team committed to custom care—formulating medications that meet individual needs when commercial options fall short.

Early in his career, Danny saw how many patients were underserved by commercially available medicine. That realization led him to help open and grow Triangle Compounding Pharmacy in 1999, with a mission to create medications that put the patient - not the prescription - at the center.

Danny’s expertise spans a wide range of complex therapies, including personalized hormone replacement, ophthalmic medications to preserve vision, and high-risk pain management solutions like intrathecal pain pump formulations. Today, he is focused on advancing “N of 1” medicine—leveraging automation and AI to deliver personalized treatments for each unique patient.

“At Triangle Compounding, I see advanced technology, pharmacogenomics and AI as force multipliers for personalized care. They help us translate complex data into precise, patient‑specific therapies—safely, faster, and at scale. As these tools evolve, we’ll use them to anticipate needs, reduce variability, and close accessibility gaps, so every person can  receive the right medication, in the right dose, at the right time.”

He is a Board-Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist and serves on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Integrative Medical Society. He is also a long-standing member of the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding and a regular voice in the national compounding community.

Danny earned his Pharm.D. from Campbell University after completing his undergraduate studies at NC State University. Outside the pharmacy, he enjoys spending time with his family and gives back through church and community involvement.
